H2 at Jumbuck Ridge. Decided to switch to the H2 since there weren't many entries on the H1 and my foot had been a bit sore at tennis yesterday, plus Aus Champs courses are short and I don't have any over 7km. Started out very badly, too low on the way to #1 and started matching up the wrong features, especially a shallow gully on the map that was more distinct on the ground. Eventually I figured that I hadn't gone far enough and got it quickly once I found my place. #2 and #3 were good. #4 I almost hit spot on, but I thought that I was further North than I was, so I turned just before the control. Didn't lose too much time though. #5 was bad again, I got distracted by Rachel (caught 2 mins at #4) and I started out heading higher than I would have usually trying to take a different route. That meant that I went too high to recognise the watercourses and totally lost my place. Ended up relocating using the ridge just below the control and got it just before Rachel, who also ended up too high initially. #6 was good. #7 I lost focus going up the hill and started thinking that I was further up than I actually was, but didn't lose too much time (~1min). #8 and #9 were good. #10 I was going really well, until I did my ankle going down the hill towards #6. From then on I was a lot slower since my ankle was still sore through to the end. Got passed by Rachel through there but ended up getting into the control in front of her because she messed up at the end. Got #11 ok but slipped and hurt my ankle more. Lost 30s to 1min on #12 because I thought the knoll looked too far away to be the one I was looking for, so messed around a bit before getting the control. #13 and #14 were fine. #15 I totally zoned out and started heading off into the bush without looking at my map. Relocated ok but then stuffed around a bit more because some vegetation was a bit thicker than it was mapped and I thought I would be able to see the control, so wasted some more time before finding the control. Hobbled my way through the last couple of controls to the finish. I was surprised to see that I was so far up the results, there were a lot of MPs and DNFs today.

UWA club championships QF against Andrew Reid (UTR 6.62). Not a great start, he got the score wrong and argued for 2-3 minutes before finally listening to everybody telling him he got it wrong. Lost my rhythm on serve in that game, and still wasn't playing great and went down 1-3. Found some rhythm after that though and was a bit more consistent than him for the rest of it. Ended up winning pretty comfortably 6-3 6-1. Callus on my R foot was getting progressively worse throughout the match, so I decided not to play my SF early, will instead play it Saturday next week before a possible final in the afternoon. SF is against Jimmy Campbell (UTR 8.36).
