Talked to Ali about resting heart rate, and she said it was a really useful tool for her. Since I've had trouble knowing when I can step up my training, I figured I'd at least record it for a few weeks and see if there are any changes. In high school and college my resting heart rate stayed between 48 and 55, but I think it's reasonable to assume i might need a new baseline after 17 weeks of relative inactivity. So this week I'll relax and take my heart rate, and while I'm visiting St. Louis I'll try increasing my running a little.

Walked. One large mistake on 9. I got unfocused and made a 90 degree error. Generally I was pretty good at using my compass, but I got tricked into thinking the hills were so distinct I couldn't mess up. More details later!
