Maybe just switch to winter poles for the time being until whatever you order to replace broken strap comes in the mail? Could swap the tips. Given that the last bout of holding pole without strap led to elbow being unhappy, I'd try to avoid doing that again...

Sorry my strap didn't work! stupid different companies.

I miss doing intervals with you. =(

Yeah, but I'd be soooo nervous out there in my stars... eep! Will err on the careful side though as left arm adjusts to also being strapless. Definitely miss doing intervals with you too!!

I guess in my mind, a potentially lost $200 < potential injury. Then again, I haven't broken a pole rollerskiing. And I've been battling elbow tendonitis for the last 3-4 years. Certainly broken my fair share of poles while on snow, but usually it involves doing very stupid stuff =).

In any event, order new straps!

Have a plan!

REI in Ann Arbor stocks nylon webbing that you can buy by the foot, so will try to acquire some tomorrow (I might also get a fun color, like neon pink, if available) and install on poles!

If you have a stable of a dozen or so pairs of skis, the added fractional cost of a really cheap pair of roller ski poles as backups should be pretty tiny. Part of the reason for a really cheap pair is so that you don't procrastinate on getting replacement straps for the regular pair when they wear out!

Yup, totally a good idea. I almost bought spare poles at REI today, but didn't quite manage, because I think I'll be good for the next few years, at least on the straps... of course something else could break and I'll be kicking myself for not having backups.

Have two types of webbing to try, thicker and thinner, really hope one works!

And, straps installed! If the weather isn't super-miserable tomorrow will take them out for a spin.
