training for the win at the Tri-Loppet?

Kair and I ended up a bit faster in a Minn II than a full blown racing canoe...I suspect the stability allows us to concentrate more on paddling....and a bit easier to turn...

Nothing like trying to run and bike after filling your shorts in a tippy boat... :-)

Yep, we are both trying to get Kelly the W, and also paddling like morons - those boats are so scary we are either going to dump or be slow. Oh well, at least we will have lived.

Like Jeff says, one dump defeats the use of the "fast" canoe.

not if they can roll it.....

We're going out tonight on it to practice (dumping) on it. It's not going to be pretty. Nice and hot though, so should feel good when we flail and fail.

Uh oh, no log from last night's dump.......

All this talk about "dump" brings out my inner child, who sits dangerously close to my skin...

Well, last Thursday's practice went fairly well. I really liked the boat, and started to feel really comfortable in it. I was probably in it for close to two hours. Kellly and I paddled for about an hour, and she was quite hesitant. Then Biz showed up while Kelly relaxed and he and I hopped into the canoe derby a few times (I never entered the race officially) and we were able to keep up with the big dogs (who were using canoe paddles whereas we were using $550 kayak paddles). It was fun, and I think we'll be fine at the Tri-loppet. Hopefully we'll be able to get it out again this coming Thursday.
