So is there any difference between this site and the regular orienteering site? Just curious.

Feature-wise, not really. Content-wise, it depends. To see what I mean, try signing out. A lot of the content displayed on both sites depends on what "your sports" (in your preferences) are set to. The default sports, which are used if you are not signed in or have not set them otherwise, are obviously different here.

So, it's really the same thing tailored to a different crowd. I expect the AR folks who do only occasional or no orienteering will be more at home here than on the orienteering site.

Do AR participants use cups at waterstops or do they drink from the jug without letting their lips touch the lid?

Joe:
they carry their own tom. remember, Adventure racers are 100% self sufficient.

Carry? All that extra weight? Heaven Forbid!
Drinking from mountain streams, please.

Some of the best tasting water I have ever had comes from high mountain streams. Why do you think they show them in all the bottled water commercials. But some races provide water stops out the course. Just depends on the terrain. PQ in 06 was in Moab, UT, so if the race director did not provide water, there was not going to be any on the course for the first 110 miles.

What's a water stop? ;^P

Many years ago the "should there be water at checkpoints" debate nearly came to blows in Nova Scotia.

On topic, I found this site after the AR spin off through AR channels. Looks like I'll have to check out the orienteering part though I'm an ARer first, and do orienteering second... or fifth really.
