OUSA:
Just over a week left until the 2022 Orienteering USA Masters Nationals come to Bigelow Hollow SP in Union CT. Course/map notes and model map have been posted to the event website.

Brand new map created by former US Junior Team Member Carl Underwood with courses set by current US Junior Squad members Bridget Hall and Keegan Harkavy who notes this map "has some of the most accurate vegetation I have ever seen on a US map". Bridget says the courses will provide "interesting route choice legs as well as some careful reading of passageways through the green and rocky areas.... broad bland hillsides will bring in challenging compass too." Jon Campbell, event director, adds "The course team (mapper, designer, consultant, setter, vetter) have all worked hard to bring you plenty of route choice and to force you to switch navigation styles to match the different areas of the park. My two nuggets of advice: don’t run “up” a course and bring your “A” game."

Bring your "A" game indeed. There is still time to get in on the action - last minute registrations accepted thru Sunday evening (10/2) on EventReg.

Masters is right! I am vey impressed with the number of entries over 65, over 75, even over 80 and 85. Orienteering is truly a lifetime sport.
Best wishes to all competing this weekend, particularly to those I have know in the sport for 50+ years.
See you all next year in Sprague Brook and Letchworth.
