Absolutely! It just needs to be in a little inset box instead of in the middle of the directions (implying that you should cross the railway tracks at said no trespassing signs instead of continuing down the road for another 500m).
The author was all for the trespassing as long as he thought it was about liability rather than a genuine desire to keep people out.
We also doubled-down on our error by walking along the very slippery railway tracks for a few hundred metres instead of backtracking 50 m (which was fine except for where it crossed a creek on a rather high bridge).
