Running 40:00 [3]
shoes: Orange Sauconys

Road bike out to intersection of walnut and kings, and ran powerline trail up to chip ross. It got dark earlier than I expected, so I cut things a little short.

Running 40:00 [3] 3.8 mi (10:32 / mi)
shoes: Orange Sauconys

Ran trails to bikepath, and did a loop on harrison and walnut.
Was planning to go nice and slow, but I saw a guy about 1/2 mile down the road, and decided to catch him. Decided not to run trails at walnut park because it was getting dark.

Orienteering (Mapping) 1:00:00 [1]

Another afternoon at Walnut Park. I have confirmed that there are some distortions to the google maps photo - on the same order of magnitude as my compass and pacing work (~10%). With my sighting compass I can see noticable deviation of roads, even in some flat areas!!!

So now my approach will be to pin down certain points, put in an averaged trail system that fits the best it can, and use that as a framework to fill in vegetation and topography. I think the result will be useable, if not ideal.

Now off to Beazell, for some fun running!

Orienteering 1:40:00 [3] 6.0 km (16:40 / km) +600m 11:07 / km
shoes: Orange Sauconys

Running around Beazel on rough map of trails/topo/aerial photo. Bay area's got nothing on this. Super steep hills, open meadows, and poisen oak. My rough assesment is that the terrain is too extreme for orienteering, except for a few nicer parts. But it made for a fun day's adventure.
