Running warm up/down 20:00 [2]

Orienteering race 36:49 intensity: (30:00 @4) + (6:49 @5)

First Thomass of the season. Decent run, but sloppy mistake enroute to 4... blew by a control atop a hill directly on the trail, thought nothing of it as assumed it was part of another course. Checked the code as I'm mentally trained to do and confirm it is not listed on our control description anywhere. ...but somehow, between the time I read the control code and scanned my control description the number translated in my head from '103' to '104'. '103' is not on our control description, but '104' was and it lined up with control six, along the very path we were on, plus on top of a hill. Natural reaction took over and I suddenly found myself backtracking away from the Griz and Sudden to the control, only to realize my mistake and looking like an idiot in the process as I got caught up in the crowds. Eventually got away from the masses and tried in a futile effort to chase down Griz and Sudden. I would catch glimpses of them exiting controls as I went in, but never caught them before the finish.

Running 25:00 [2]

Trail run around Starkey with the Griz following the race.

TOTNT - Riverdale Rally (solo)
Amazing that with Tiny having to bow out this evening and the appearance of slippery winter weather I was very close to bailing on the workout. But I 'sucked it up princess' and gave it a go. With a very short warm-up and extremely slippery conditions I wasn't planning on land speed records and focused on retaining footing, especially on the downhills, until I get my winter footing skills back. It felt like that first winter snow fall when everyone else seems to have forgotten how to drive in snow ...yet I was that driver, slipping away in my zero grip shoes. Ice-bugs would be super sweet! Pleased with the effort, despite my resistance to stay in the 'pain cave' tonight.
