So last week I basically tied my 5k PR while doing a run on a treadmill and reading a book, so I thought to myself, "Why don't I not exercise for a week and then try to break my PR?"

Thus began a week of unhealthy eating and lazy decision-making, and a deal with my brother to motivate ourselves to train for the upcoming month. I watched Star Wars, I watched Harry Potter, I think I did homework, and I powered through the week.

I repeated the same routine today that I did last Saturday, snacking all day and generally not paying attention to health, and finally tore myself away from the computer at around 10:30 pm. I went down to the gym, did a short strength workout, hopped on the treadmill, and picked up my book.

Again, I started out at 7mph for a while, then 8, and after I got bored and wanted to set the book down for a bit, I upped the speed to 11mph (last week was 10mph). I ran that speed for about 18:30, and spent about half of that time reading my book as well. After that fast segment, I dropped the speed back down to 9mph and finished my run at a casual pace which also permitted easier reading.

TLDR: 11mph = 16:55 5k; my brother owes me a pair of short shorts; Ian owes me a burrito.
