Grisedale Horseshoe. Been feeling a bit flat since getting back from Sweden and on the edge of a cold so not expecting too much. 10 minutes into the first climb knew it was going to be a long day out and legs felt heavy. Did not enjoy the descent to Grisedale tarn and the struggle up St Sunday seemed to go on forever with one false summit after another. The descent off killed my quads even more and had a little lie in the stream at the bottom before slogging up the other side. Hit the wall badly here, head was spinning and was crawling up very slowly. Was relieved to get to the top but then had to get my map out because no one immediately ahead and hadn't reccied.
In hindsight, I probably should have put an electrolyte tablet in my soft flask. Took 2 gels and each time I had one perked up massively but needed something else for the final climb. Like to think on a good day I could easily have been 5 mins quicker. Glad I took a moment to absorb the views from Helvellyn because the rest was definitely type 2 fun. Actually quite looking forward to a couple of weeks down south, a change of scene then back up in the lakes until mid-November :)
