Race 1 - Drumpelier CP
This is about the right amount of time to spend in Drumpelier.

Actually in the big scheme of things I enjoyed this. Only the one control in the clearing was a tricky one and this made easier by the fact it was common and Amelia was punching it coming the other way.

Overtook Andy Mac at this point. He'd made a hash of #1

Got lucky a couple of time - came out of #4 more E than NE but raealised I could go over the spur using the path initially rather than round - not a bad route.

Then again on 7 made a 90 degree error at the path junction after 6 and didnt notice until after I'd turned right onto the ride. As it happened this took me to a decent attack point for the control. Not the fastest route but I deserved worse!

Learning point - make sure the compass is on the map at all times!

2nd race - Tollcross park
Pretty happy with this run. Pretty deciscive to #1 and fine then until #6 when I got drawn a bit left by the fenced enclosure to the E of the building feature. The map wasnt making sencse at this point but if I'd have my compass on I'd have known I was heading off course. DIdnt lose much time.
Took the left hand option to 9 as it seemed like less climb. Overtook my 1min man on way to 7 and kept ahead.

Race 3 - Pollok park
Started chasing start in mid table with Trevor 2 minutes or so ahead and a minute gap behind.

Orienteered pretty well -a bit hesitant at 3 when I misread cd as marsh and it was thicket. Apparently my 1min behind STAG man was close at that point. Thought I did 4-5-6 pretty well but caught on way to 7 by Dave Robertson (mp Race 1) then Max Carcas (just Maxed race 1) but I kept in sight of Dave till he was leaving 10 and was ahead of Max at this point again (superior route choice to 9) That was last I saw of Dave and Max lost me for speed on way to 12. Rest was straightforward.
Turns out I was only 6 seconds or so behind Max as he was out of the chasing start by a couple of minutes (ie he should have started further behind but benefited from the concertina after 10mins.

NB Saw Amelia on way to my 4 coming the other way just behind Lynsey Knox who must have caught her up 2 minutes at that point. Pleasantly surprised to learn that Amelia outsprinted her by 3seconds for the win!
