Hottest day since I was in Mallorca I think! It's sun-burn weather :/ I was planning to do a longish ride because it's the last time I'll use my bike at home till xmas and might not get to use much in Bristol.

I just did my old fave loop starting off through Goostrey to Swettenham and back via Swettenham Heath and Over Peover. Used to find Batemill Lane difficult... Now flying up the small incline at 27-30kph.

I cycled over to Macc taking the route me and Jonathan did about a month ago. (Twemlow, Swettenham Heath, Siddington). I then stupidly thought I would cycle up a hill... nearest one is the one to Tegg's Nose. So off I plodded. I made it, but was 30ks from home and shattered! Pillock! Made it back taking a winding route in the end cos I avoided main roads as much as possible.

I slept craply so missed skyride at 10am. Grabbed some brekkie and ended up heading out with no idea how long I'd be.

On the spur of the moment I decided to go all the way to Middlewich and then cut back to Brereton, followed by Congleton. Heading over that way I saw Mow Cop so that's where I went next. Headed back through Lower Withington and Over Peover.

Best weather of September for a ride. Barely any wind compared to the stormy gusts over last few days.

I wanted to do a 50-60km ride which included Mow Cop. Decided I would be most successful if I put Mow Cop in as soon as possible, so headed straight there via Twemlow and Swettenham, swinging through Congleton before hitting the bottom of the climb.
I forgot how tough it is! :/ Made it to the top without stopping but there are some really nasty kick ups followed by lovely flatter sections. 25km at the top. Stopped to take in the view. Then headed back a long winded way with lumpy roads and generally going with random signposts.
Eventually made it back to Lower Withington and continued home by normal route.

Absolutely shattered!!

Hell Runner Up North in Delamere Forest.

The hardest thing I've ever done! Got caked in mud. Felt sick most of the way round (puked when I got home...). Glad I did it, just wish it was when I was feeling well.

I also forgot to take food, so kinda ran outta energy on final leg.
I went off too fast and paid for it with really really slow splits towards the end.

It was the first sunny day in ages so I decided to get out on the bike early(ish). I headed over to Leek where Stage 3 of the Tour of Britain has its first categorised climb. I'm planning to watch it so I thought I'd scout about a bit to see what the terrain is like and where might be good to watch...
It's tough! On my own I found the climbing a pain and didn't pace myself too well, but was rapid on descents!!! Hit 65kph. Went through Leek and hopefully set off two speed cameras. Was going 34mph through 30mph speed-trap.

Good ride before hols.
