MTB Riding race (12hour enduro) 12:00:00 [4] 85.0 km (7.1 kph)
shoes: Giant XTC2 With XT Wheels

Andy and me did 9.5 laps between us. I covered 5 of them. The aims for this race was to hit 9 laps and have an average around 1:20:00.

Andy took lap 1

I took lap 2 and was supposed to rest lap three, however he was not at the TA so i went through for #3. These were the worst 2 laps. Everyone was bunched up in the course and there was heaps of dust aggrivating my asthma. Took me over 30mins to settle down my breathing.

Andy took 4 & 5

i took 6 & 7 starting at 1am, finishing at 3:30ish. Took a few minutes on the 7th lap to refuel with redbull and some jelly beans. 7th lap took 1:18:00. Got really confused on the second lap as they had closed off a section of steep downhill just east of the TA which had caused a few causalties in the night. I spent about 1 minute a bit dazed in the dark figuring it out.

Andy took 8 at 4:40 and was supposed to be waiting in the TA for me to transition, however was still getting changed back into his riding clothes and wasted 10mins.

I took out 9 as first light came out. Smashed out the lap as quick as I could and was happy with 1:05:00 and came in at 5:58am. I was completely out of

Kicked andy out at 5:59 on the start of the next half lap and thought I would do the second half if he had come in before 6:35:00 for me to do the last 7km, however he came in around 6:39 and it was too late for me to do the last half loop to get us to 10 laps.

Overall really stuffed and had no stacks. Andy had a couple. I am really happy how I have improved on the MTB. I am still not as quick as some, however 2 years ago when I did the 12hr as a team of 3 we did 13 x 12km laps, so doing 9.5 x 17km laps was a really good achievement in terms of improving my fitness.

Edit: Results are now out

Lap 2 - 1:06:05
Lap 3 - 1:11:30
Lap 6 - 1:09:33
Lap 7 - 1:19:37
Lap 9 - 1:05:21

Actual ride time 5:52:06

MTB Riding (night time) 1:40:00 [3] 17.2 km (10.3 kph)
shoes: Giant XTC2 With XT Wheels

Ride around with Andy in prep for this weekends 12 hour.

Andy was riding armada's bike and managed to snap the chain in the first minute. Fixed this in less than 10 mins and then continued on without any more mechanical problems.

Andy had a little stack and did a great somersault and somehow managed to get more twisted with the bike than i have seen people playing twister. Had a few little adjustments made on the bike that caused a bit of time to be lost. overall 1 lap taking it nice and slowly took 1:15 ride time, so should just be over 1 hour on the race
