Strength and Conditioning 35:00 [1]

before going in for Ultra sound and Cortisone.

Just amazed at how far behind schedule they were - eventually got called in at 12.20 for my 11.30 appointment. 10mins of US, 12mins waiting for the imager to find the dr, 5 mins being injected, and out by 1!

Running 36:00 [3] 6.6 km (5:27 / km)

cruisey run with the cockatoos from BigD's. Knee was pretty darn sore after 3 days in terrain.

Running warm up/down 12:00 [3]

Up up and up to the start 3/4 up Castle Hill!

Orienteering 41:40 [3]

SL1 at castle hill. Ran red 3 as my knee can't handle much more. But was joined by Grace and Shannon, so was obviously the course to do :)

Real course of two halves, the first atop the hill in all of the rock. Had to be a bit relaxed about the mapping, but was still a bit annoyed to lose time on 4 when the circle wasn't centred in the right place. Lost time looking at the centre of the circle, wondering why the description was a cliff when it was blatently a rock! Oh well. I should have clicked a bit faster!

2nd half was fast running contouring long legs to get us back to the finish. Nice to run fast, but had to be careful on the bearings or you'd miss the one rock in the bush that you were aiming for!

Great to be back on non-sprint maps the last few days :) Knee achey after about 30mins again. Here's to Cortisone on tuesday...
3 PM

Running 29:15 [3] 5.0 km (5:51 / km)

Really didn't feel like it, and not a brilliant idea on the knee. But we'd agree to do a soccer team run as we didn't have a game this weekend. About half a team turned up. Just a cruise around the bridges, having a good chat. Was nice :)

Had to bite my tongue when there were complaints about the temperature and the wind... 20degrees, and a slight breeze! Far out!

11 AM

Orienteering 20:00 [3]

Honeysuckle training with the cockies. Good little warm up exercise, 2 sided map, one contour only and one rock detail only. Jogged around with Lachy, alternating contour-rock from control to control. generally found the contour person leading on the leg, but the rock person overtaking as we hit the circle.

Which makes sense.

Huge thanks to GrantM for setting and taping the exercises! Hugely appreciated!

Orienteering 37:00 [3]

Middle distance course down the valley and back.

Felt amazing to be back out on a map! Didn't feel fit, for sure, but did feel strong :) So all those exercises must be doing something! Had one of those legs 3-4 where I was in just absolute bliss, loving the running, the smell of the forest, and the feeling of being alone in the forest :) sigh.

Training wise I went ok, rusty as can be expected. Somehow did not see the tape at #20, despite being bang on in the right place. Must have been enjoying the surroundings too much!

And had the closest encounter that I ever want to have, just as I jogged into the campground. Heard something coming at me from up the hill, so I turned, expecting it to be LOLLY, to instead find that it was a kangaroo, less than 2m away, heading full speed straight for me. Instantly flattened myself to the ground and scrunched my eyes shut, expecting an impact. No idea if the roo jumped over me, or skidded around, but I was hell lucky we managed to avoid each other! Pretty sure I'd have come off worse.
