Running (Munich) 34:50 [3] 6.4 km (5:27 / km)
shoes: Kayano 23

Still in Munich for G20 meetings. Very dark and foggy this morning so quite an atmospheric run. Headed into the English Teagarden but couldn't see much, although it was very nice running with lamplights shining weakly through the fog.

Came upon one of the most bizarre sights I have ever seen at the edge of the Teagardens. It was a surfer riding a major wave in a canal that was generated by a the fast flowing water being funnelled through a narrow culvert and over a bump in the canal. He was done up in full wetsuit and was very skilled at riding the wave in one spot. He did come off at one stage and was swept downstream before climbing onto the bank and heading back upstream for another surf. Really inspiring but also weird to come across this in the fog and dark in the middle of Munich!

Running (Munich) 30:59 [3] 5.4 km (5:44 / km)
shoes: Kayano 23

In Munich for a G20 meeting. Recovering from this nasty virus and still on second round of antibiotics. But decided to head out for an easy run anyway to try and shake off the last vestiges of the virus (which involves a nasty cough that is hanging around). Dark and damp, but nice to get out for a run at last. Legs felt good, which is probably not surprising given the nice rest that the legs have had...

Note
(sick)

Hit with a decent dose of the flu, started to manifest itself on the way back from Berlin last Friday. It went straight to throat and chest and required a visit from the doctor on Sunday night. On antibiotics and steroids. Feel like crap ...

Running intervals (Berlin) 52:56 [3] 10.4 km (5:05 / km)
shoes: Asics Kayano 22

In Berlin for a short work trip. The meeting didn't start till 10am so had time to do a decent run at a more reasonable time in the morning (rather than at 6am, which is usually the case). Did a bit of a tourist circuit taking in the Brandenburg Gate, Tiergarten, Reichstag. Felt very good but a little tired and heavy. Decided to do 5 x 3minH/1minE after a decent warm-up. Pace not too bad for the morning (4.15, 18, 18, 17, 16) but quite hard work.

Reason for feeling a bit tired was revealed later in the day when my throat started to close up, nose started to run, and chest became very heavy and congested. Flying back was a struggle with the start of a man-cold. Will have to take it easy for a few days now ...
