(rest day)

Planned to go out for a walk today, but it literally rained from 8am until bed time and I didn't fancy getting soaked. Nice to see the garden looking so wet, though.

Nice walk around Hawthorndene in the dark with Jenny. We chatted, scared small dogs with our head-torches and slid down damp laneways. :)

Orienteering (Flagstaff Hill) 32:00 [3] ** 2.3 km (13:55 / km) +110m 11:14 / km

Jogged/walked around the moderate course at Flagstaff Hill. It was a beautiful morning and most of my course was in the bush, which was nice. I even managed to jog most of it and really enjoyed myself! A couple of the controls I think were not in the right place - number 129 I think was on the little creek junction 40m or so north of the control circle, but it didn't matter because this was a taped route so you couldn't really not find the control (Tyson's GPS track confirmed my theory - he didn't have the control but ran straight past it using the taped route to get through the scratchy bush). I also couldn't find 122 which I think should have been at the bottom of a big rock face I was at with a pit at the northern end. I tracked back to the fence corner and south again and still couldn't find it, so I told yellow-shirt girl who'd been searching for a while not to worry and to keep going. Played tag team with yellow-shirt for the rest of the course. She was doing really well and I found out at the end that she's never really orienteered before! Bridget, you need to get onto this girl, find out who she is and get her in your squad. :)
