It always surprises me how much I actually like people.

Field checking trails marked 'overgrown' on Turner Hill map with Rowl. One of the trails deserves the MTBO symbol for "Abandon hope, ye who enter here"- took us half an hour to get less than 1.5km along that trail. Everything else was pretty sweet.

The usual difficulties of having no MTB skills, quad muscles or aerobic fitness. Yet somehow I still had a really, really enjoyable day and cannot think of anything I would rather have been doing :)

I was going to hold out for another couple of weeks, until I'd reached 1000kms, but now I can go shopping in the city on the way home tonight - for camping gear! What fun!

Trying to go slow. Felt very heavy. Much more comfortable on the third interval, but I bet I did it too fast. It would be really nice to be fit enough to run at the pace my legs say they like, instead of what the cardiovascular system can manage.

It was cold. But the sunrise was wonderful and made me happy to be outside.

Plus 13 minutes warm up (sort of).

There - Straight to work. Did not feel as fresh and bouncy as yesterday. Tiny amount of breeze made me grumpy and it all kind of felt like hard work.

And back again - Straight home. Felt a bit bouncier than I did this morning, but note that I wasn't actually working as hard. Dude with really bright lights kicked my ass up the first hill and disappeared. I kicked somebody else's ass up Bishopsgate.

There and back again.

Sniffled and coughed a lot again, on the way there and on the way back. Was ignored by Ricky in one direction and then kicked a lot of commuter ass on the way home. Finishing essential work stuff makes for a more carefree cricket.

Once home, spent some time petting my new car, while my father enabled me with comments like "complete service history" and "luxury model" and "I really want to get it registered for you" and other such gems of fatherly love and devotion. Nice!
