John Forrest NP Sprint.

Started OK but ran into trouble half way round and had trouble with #8, #9, #11, #17 and a bad route choice to #19 so lost quite a bit of time and places.

Reabold Hill Zamia Track circuit.

Hot for the end of July and 21 deg and a bit steamy after the heavy rain over the past couple of days.

Cracked after 4km and walked up a couple of hills in the last km with very heavy legs.

Headed around the river a day early as it seems that storms and tempests are due in Perth tomorrow. Nicole came out of retirement from the round the river rides but managed to pick up a nail in Fremantle. Swapped to a new tube, and then another both went flat straight away, Grrrrrrr.

Walked to a coffee shop. The Short Black Sheep in N. Freo (nice coffee and Carol had a birthday muffin). Nicole took the train to Shenton Park and Carol and I rode on.

Back home pulled the tyre off and found the nail this time, not sure why we could not feel it when fixing the flat on the roadside. Anyway new tyre and tube fitted as Nicole's tyre was in worse shape than mine that I swapped yesterday. It uses up the stock of tyres I bought from Wiggle a while back.

Decide it was not actually raining and the forecast was that the showers had past. So headed down through Nedlands to Mosman Peppy Grove. Light drizzle started up in Claremont and the roads were like ice so was very cautious especially on the F%$##@ing stupid bricks they pave the roundabouts and corners with in Mosman. Lost the back wheel going around a small bend in the new development at Minim Cove and did a three point landing, knee, thigh and elbow - bike was fine so off I went.

Felt like I had no control of the back of the bike for the rest of the ride and nearly lost it again at the roundabout at the south end of Marine Parade. Definitely not enjoying the ride by this stage.

Got home and swapped the tyre to a new one, and did a lap of Lake Jualbup to test my tyre changing skills. Felt better, but the rain had gone the road dried out so will see next time it rains.

Around 5,000km on that tyre is I guess a reasonable service?
