Easy jog round the hood. While there's still a lot of extra pain involved, the relationship between my actual effort and resulting pace is starting to look more familiar. The pain, however, is troublesome.
Not so much because I don't like it (though, I certainly don't) but because my recollection of earlier breaks was that by four weeks the pain was pretty mild. I wouldn't call what I'm feeling right now mild.
Some of this may be that, as capabilities increase, I'm doing more and so it's really less pain relative to the activity. Things as simple as lifting my coffee cup out of the car cupholder with my right hand weren't even possible last week. Now I do it without thinking about it. Unfortunately, equaly plausible is that I'm simply coming back too fast and jacking myself up in the process. I'm pretty good at telling the difference between pain that indicates effort, pain that indicates things are simply not right, and pain that indicates you're wrecking yourself. However, I've got so much invested in this marathon that I have to admit I might be confusing the last two.
