Mapping (Woods) 6:13:00 [1]

Mapping Castlewood flood plain. Hopefully all this time spent using USGS as a base map will help in two weeks at US 24-hour champs. USGS maps really suck in flat areas.

Orienteering (Woods) 37:00 [3]

Taping intermediate controls.

Orienteering (Woods) 33:00 [4]

SLOC Thursday O Training at West Tyson (1:10). Ran hard and felt good. One boom, but overall had good focus. ST=764/1340.

Running (Road) 59:00 [3]

Over to park and back, plus a bit extra.

Running (Road) 27:13 [4] 4.1 mi (6:38 / mi)

Forest Park Pace Series. Predicted 26:50 because the listed mileage was 4.0. Turns out the course was long.

Orienteering (Woods) 1:30:00 [4]

Four short (around 15 minutes, 6-8 controls each) courses on the hilly section of Castlewood (1:10) run at race pace. Five minutes of easy jogging between each. First serious O training of the fall. Fitness is good, concentration could be better - I'm running too rough into the circle. Overall, a decent start. ST=754/1318.

Mapping (Park) 3:22:00 [1]

Finished the Willmore Park map. Pretty happy with the results. Ten hours, including cartography, and now we have a new city park to run on. Park is something like 200 acres, although I left off a bit that isn't really usable. The rest fits nicely on 8.5x11 paper at 1:5000.
