Stretching 25:00 [0]

Stretching DVD.

Well, that was a major false start. I tried to head back to Vancouver today, but there were major storms in most of the airports I was flying through. First flight was cancelled 30 minutes before boarding, and next available one is on Wednesday! The airline's phones were so overwhelmed that if you called, you would get a busy tone instead of being put on hold.

And to those who want a curl update--I tried doing this pre-rinse the other day where you boil vegetable glycerin and ginger in water and pour it through your hair. I think it is supposed to make things shinier. I learned that you should not use a microplane grater for the ginger because the fine pieces of ginger are very difficult to rinse out and can end up looking like a bad case of dandruff... Also, let the boiling water cool enough before pouring it over yourself.

Circuit 28:00 [3]

T25 Lower Focus DVD. So many jumping squats and lunges. I feel a little wobbly now.

Running 29:09 [2] 5.0 km (5:50 / km)

The tradition continues! My 10th year of doing the Running Room's Resolution Run. One of the first times without snow although there is a light dusting now.

Strength 28:00 [2]

T25 Ab DVD. Ouch.

Circuit 28:00 [3]

T25 Total Body Circuit DVD. I had very little interest in going out in the -15 C weather (-24 with windchill). Crazy that the weather has dropped 30 degrees C in the past 7 days! My right wrist was hurting a lot during this, likely due to the push-ups, burpees, and planks. I have an appointment with an OT on Friday.

And for Carol, a hair update! To recap briefly, Carol gave me the "Curly Girl: The Handbook" for Christmas, which is essentially a cult to embrace your inner curl. The basic principles are that curly hair needs to be treated differently and requires a lot of moisture. You can clean your hair with a sulfate-free shampoo or with a silicone-free conditioner, then you can conditioner some more if you want, scrunch your hair dry-ish, and scrunch in an alcohol-free, silicone-free gel. There are also an abundance of hair puns, curl trauma stories, and a 12-step recovery program for curly girls, which includes turning your curls "over a higher power". There is also a section for curly guys, and kids, so there are curls for all!

Adventures into my new curly hair life style have included an avocado hair mask (I recommend blending it instead of being lazy and using a fork--chunks of avocado falling out of your hair is less appetizing), reading many hair product labels (which is far more daunting than reading food labels for gluten), and bringing back the scrunchie. Today's task was a baking soda rinse to "remove heavy product build up". Since I've never really used hair products, there probably wasn't much to remove, and there wasn't much sizzling. My hair is still in the wet dog drying stage, so it's difficult to tell if anything has happened.

Good thing I'm going back to the real world soon, and away from this whimsical holiday land.

Circuit 27:30 [3]

T25 Speed 1.0 DVD.

On an unrelated note, to any of the few people that read my log, I just finished the book What Makes Olga Run and thought it was quite interesting. They even mentioned the word "orienteer" once!

Circuit 27:30 [3]

Trying to emerge from my den of holiday sloth and glutton. Did a T25 DVD (cardio).
