Chiltern Challenge - Short Brown
Had been very tired since the 'Sunny Sussex' weekend. Skipped my mid-week runs. Got the train from Gerrards Cross there and back today. Cutting about 90mins from the ride. Sure enough, I slowed down as my run went on. Literally crawling up the hill from #24! And yet, in ranking points terms, this was my best forest run ever. On top of the nav all the way round. I was on a bit of a train, which helped me in the circle a few times and saved me a bit of time. But I did my fair share of driving.
Only real mistake was to #18. Was lower down than I realised and thought I was on the ruined fence above the control, but it was the uncrossable fence to the north. Obvious in retrospect. Cost me about 90s.
Took a roundabout route to #20. Straighter at halfway would have been better.
Went a little further west that I'd planned to #23, but realised and corrected well.
Was 4th at #13, which would have been an astonishing result. Just didn't have the legs so see it through to the end.
