Rogaine race (Aus Rogaining Champs) 11:25:00 [4] 47.03 km (14:34 / km) +2577m 11:26 / km
shoes: Salomon XT Wings

Racing with Lazy Dave.

Started with a similar loop to Rob and Damon to keep thing interesting.
I struggled early I think due to the heat. Had nothing in my legs on the bloody steep climbs. Rob even offered to carry my bag in exchange for changing his flat rear car tyre!
We picked up 35, 63, 103, 48, 90, 74, 68, 97, 55, 52, 92, 87, 101. We then dropped down into the canyon below. We lost Rob and Damon on the way down and then we followed Torrane creek up stream and popped out near the control. The creek was rocky and slippery but movable with no scrub. Dave rolled his ankle but kept the pace going.
Surprised not to see Rob and Damon across the paddocks so they must have picked up some time.
The storms had cooled the place down a bit and I was now feeling better. Smashed it up to 81 and through the cliffs to 61 stopping to take some photos. Lots of unmapped rock pagodas on top but got through 54, 100 and down suicide gully to 84. The map was pretty shit over this side with heaps of un mapped gullies and spurs. 77 we went down a spur to early made worse by Dave was already having sleep monsters and thought he could see a guy punching the control further down the wrong spur... We dragged Surge and his team mate along with us. Pretty funny to see dave go from smashing it to Angry dave in a couple of minutes.
Nailled 90 before we needed lights.
Then nailed 98 (which was too high in the gully), 88, 62, 57. Then slogged up to 94 on the southern ridge getting stuck once but otherwise good. Then 34, 104, 99, 71 and then to the All Night Cafe.
We had already decided to have a feed then call it a night. Both were feeling a bit stuffed and over it. Food at the ANC was good and they had just lit a fire that we sat around for almost 2 hrs before walking back to the HH and some sleep.
