SSS#8 - Hurlestone Park

Thanks to brutally delayed Sydney trains got to the assembly with 10 minutes to register, change, plan my route and start. Surprisingly though, looking at others' logs, I have probably managed to plan the ideal route - going clockwise via 20 at the beginning. Got the lot in 38:34 in I think my fastest SSS time ever, the course was a lot faster than it appeared from the map.

Just a few little hesitations and 20sec mistake at 8 where I just couldn't see the control in the bush, otherwise clean run. Caught up Keelan around 2/3 way which was a great boost for my morale. I had to keep on pushing it - probably the reason why I managed to finish 1st, 20 sec faster than Steve :)

Unfortunately, crossed an "impassable" cliff 28-9 - I saw Keelan in front of me going down there and a highway from previous runners so wasn't really thinking and headed down and only checked after I finished. Bad Ondrej! Easily passable but very slow in my flat road runners and probably slower than going around using stairs anyway.

My neck/upper back was hurting towards the end (running a 10k race was never a good idea) and then on the way back home with Bart but well, I survived...

Note
(injured)

Woke up with completely stuffed neck. After a previous positive experience booked a chiro right away. Cracked my neck a few times for instant relief, but still not 100%. Will do it one more time on Thu and probably massage on Fri.

South Summer Series #6 - Watsons Bay

Happy with my route choice for once. A few little mistakes here and there (overrunning, missing a turn etc.) and legs slow uphills but getting better. My head just completely switched off after the final hill up to Dunbar Head which led me to :
a) spending 20 seconds bushbashing through a spider infested piece of bush instead of comfortably running around it
b) struggling to find a control after running 10cm past it
c) overrunning a control which was visible 100m away

All of that led to leaving out #9 and a brutal 300m sprint across the Christinson Park to finish with 8 seconds to spare.

1st with 590 points, Steve got 560 but he already had a morning long run in his legs...

Lowlight: Dic*head with a small sailing boat on a pedestrian path who lost control of his boom which swooped across the path. I kinda saw it happening so jumped aside but still got it hard into my stomach. Could have been a lot worse though because half second before that I passed a young family and it could have been a head of a small boy who was right behind me. Lucky for the guy I was in full steam and not willing to loose seconds on arguing but I heard the dad behind me taking care of that... Negligence at its best.

Run long (Trail) 2:28:00 [3] 24.0 km (6:10 / km) +571m 5:31 / km
shoes: New Balance 870v4

Fri eve trails with Broondog, Andy and Steve R from Chatswood vie Little Digger, Flat Rock, Magazine tracks to the Austrian Club in French Forrest (0.5l Stiegl there because it was bloody 30 degrees outside) then exploring new trails through Bantry Bay to Seaforth oval (amazing!) and then to 4 Pines. Pitch dark towards the end, feeling good, even smashed the last km in about 3:50 pace lol. Feeling sheit on the hill up to Seaforth Oval though.

Love this little Friday adventures finished with a good beer :)
