GPS track decided to stop half way so you'll have to take my word for it.
After setting my family off on White I made a B line for 1 and hit it dead on. Overshot 2 but tagged it after some back peddling. Tried to follow the paths to the left of the straight path to 3 but they seemed to run out at the big hill. Crossed paths with a coyote as I headed for the summit to take a bearing. Did that and hit 3 on the nose and good navigation got me to 4. Tried for a B line to 5 but overshot to the left. Took ages to get contact but lost it again and resorted to searching. Final hit it with some beta from Earl. Overshot 6 also and hit the houses. Ran into Bill again when I was on top of the control. Overshot 7 hitting the corner fence but at least that got me contact and a bearing. Back to 7 OK. Overshot 8 hitting the start shed. New bearing and back to 8 and a quick run home to 9 and finish.
Pleased with my fitness but the least said about my map reading skills the better. Saying that, I did feel I was closer in contact with the map. I believe that was because I wasn't exhausted and able to think clearly to the end. To prove it I managed the fastest splits for the last 2 controls.
Thanks Jim and Rich for a great event.
