Run 44:15 [1] 4.9 mi (9:02 / mi) +106m 8:28 / mi
ahr:159 max:195

Pre-wedding run with my sister and BiL (Elena was busy writing her vows and getting ready to go off to get her hair done, like you do). Beautiful morning to go across the Schuylkill and back, this was a lovely run too.

And yes, the wedding was wonderful, I am very lucky and very happy and now have 6h to Attackpoint on the train ride home (my lovely bride is off to Lake Geneva via ORD for a conference … this is all quite on-brand).

Run 1:57:18 [1] 12.35 mi (9:30 / mi) +141m 9:10 / mi
ahr:118 max:196

The plan:

Wake up, go for a run, come back, shower, get picked up by Elena's parents to go see old friends of hers somewhere outside Philly.

So we started out for our run. A mile or so down to the Schuylkill (this hotel location is great: 15 minutes from 30th St, and a mile to the river; there's a more expensive hotel on the river: location, location). Then onto the Wissahickon Valley park path which is … amazing. 7 miles long along a creek in big-tree forest right in the city. We ran for a couple of miles and another runner said it was her favorite place to run and she moved to Delaware but comes back. Shady and beautiful.

We found out Elena's parents were moving slowly so we decided to extend our run to the end of the path. Where we stopped for a danish and water ice because … there are snack bars along the trail. It was actually like being in Europe. Her parents were still running late so we kept going, on some roads because there's a golf course along the creek (ugh) then back on trails to meet them, change our shirts, and off to a backyard.

One of so many things I love about Elena is her ability to adapt to changing circumstances. Oh and to go on adventures. And run 12 miles. And wind up meeting people on a random road in Montgomery County Pennsylvania. And spend 2h with me.

So not at all a bad run for the last run of our engagement :)

Run 27:20 [1] 3.4 mi (8:02 / mi) +24m 7:52 / mi
ahr:172 max:199

Out with a friend last night since the AQI was predicted to be bad again in the morning I slept in. November Project had canceled their workout even. I woke up and it was in the double digits! Not much time but I managed a lap of the Anacostia again. A shame we wasted such nice DC weather with smoke.

Note

Woke up to 250 air quality so … yeah no running today.

Hotel fitness center is v sad, too (next to the under-maintenance pool with fetid water).

"FTA folks will be sitting in Section 319 at the Nats game."

So I bought a ticket. No one was there, but a friend from grad school was sitting nearby and saw me, and I knew other people there with his firm, and wound up staying for the whole game.

Not up in time for November Project (didn't want to fall asleep) … plus it was smoky in the morning. This was the most breathing my body wanted to do, yikes.

Monday plan: get to DC, go to hotel, check in, go for a run.

JetBlue had other ideas, and so spent time buying clothes (on their dime of course).

So got out for a run in the morning, a nice run along the Anacostia, and then to a bagel shop to get bagels for breakfasts this week (I'll take the rest of the per diem myself).
