Explore of the Chilterns from home - first up over to Ashridge, felt pretty comfortable spinning up the hill there. Then down to Tring, up past Wendover Woods - this was hard work - before the trip down the dip slope to the vale road and Chesham (50k).
Was feeling alright, so continued with plan - to see how tricky the two ascents up to the school were. First was short and sharp, a bit of pain in the left quad above the knee but was soon at the top. Bit of a loop with a nice wide, fast descent back into the valley, before starting up the second. Pain came back again, but worse this time, got about halfway up before deciding it wasn't worth the risk.
Eventually the pain eased, rolled back down the hill and through town, and then dropped into a low gear to take it easier and spin up the gentler slope to Amersham and home.
All still a bit sore now - not quite sure what the issue is here. Plan to tackle Streatley Hill will be delayed to post 6-day methinks...
