O race 23 [3] 2.8 km (8 / km) +40m 8 / km

Sprint event at a park in Botany, Sydney. First run and race since Tassie. Rusty leaving the triangle as it required a near 180 degree turn then ran for a small path until I hit sand dune area! Stuffed the first control as it involved passing 2 others first, both of which were not easy to recognise on the map. Dunes for the first 7 controls. Settled down after control 1and spiked the rest, including the control on the elephant (sculpture). Were able to watch the elites finish the last few controls on their course before our start. Pretty warm conditions but a bit of a breeze helped. Overall happy with the run. Knee held up but not sure it is 100% still. NSW Sprint champs tomorrow.

walking 1:30:00 [3] 4.0 km (22:30 / km)

Another walk around a different part of the day 2 Easter 2016 area to see what point features available for course setting. Reassuring to be able to find plenty available but no charcoal burning grounds sighted so far. Got a progress report from Alex and 2 sq/km remapped so far.

ride with Peter 1:46:42 [3] 43.27 km (2:28 / km) +314m 2:23 / km

Peleton of 4 - joined by Vern V with Brad still o/s. Nice riding conditions but the whole team felt the effects of a week or so of the bikes. Most slowed for a back marker but Peter used this as an opportunity to make a breakaway. Peloton edicit was restored when he got to the coffee stop well before the rest of us but then did put in an advance order and pay. Nice long coffee break to help recovery mid ride - and lots of stories to share including about Paul's recent walk in Nepal. Very enjoyable.

walking 3:00:00 [3] 5.0 km (36:00 / km) +150m 31:18 / km

With Easter 2016 approaching and Liz and I volunteering to control/course set for one day we decided we better have a walk around the proposed area. Not sure what has been announced yet but lets say it is classic spur gully that has not been used for quite a long time and a old version of the map that we were using was at 1:20000 scale - coincidently just as we were about to depart from our recce Alex Tarr turned up (with Janet and Rohan H) - great that he is starting a 3 week remapping program. Given some of the vegetation changes that we saw it might take a bit longer tho!

Distance and climb a rough estimate only.
