Table Mountain Challenge duo with Jono. Myself running first leg and Jono second.
They reversed the route this year, so from town, up to kloof corner, pipetrack, up Kasteels, along the apostles, down llandudno ravine, across and down to Orangekloof and then up to the change over just above Constantia Nek.
Had wanted to be pretty conservative and just try do as little as possible to be in the lead when changing over (still worried about the foot), but had to change that idea a bit when Rory rocked up at the start.
Still just tried to run my own race and make sure I got to the top of Kasteels feeling decent, so was about 2min down on Rory there, but caught about 1:30 on the flat section along the top before catching the remaining 30sec and pulling a min or so on the Llandudno descent. Then held that along to Orangekloof, but was a bit slow up to the Nek and got caught just before the changeover, so we ended up coming in together.
Never really felt like I was racing though, more like just a hardish effort and lacking the motivation to hurt/push. Probably mostly just down to the lack of running the last week or two and forgetting what its about, and also the fact that is was such a stunning day and stunning views that I was more interested in those than racing.
Legs also still seem to be really useless on the climbs. Not sure whats happened the last couple months that theyre feeling so useless..
Jono managed to finally live up to his potential though :P , so we got the overall win by a couple min :)
