(rest day) shoes: Inov8 X-talon 225 black+red

Body feeling pretty tired, so just taking a nice chilled day.

Thought I might as well wait until it was dark and test out the headlight before nighthawk. Pretty impressed with it! Still gonna be very interesting running the long night leg in this type of forest though..

Just an out and back along the little singletrack to the south.

Back to Mysen from Arvika.

No speed records being broken, but just tried to settle into an okayish rhythm and not stop too much. The 20km gravel section felt a lot better than I thought it would, so that was nice. Also a slightly lighter bag than on the way to Arvika.

Had about 2 hours of solid rain which livened things up a bit.

Not a day to remember.

Absolute monster mistake at #2. Passed within 50ish m of it, but was on a similar feature just to the North and nothing would make sense.. spent eons fiddling around hoping I'd hit the control instead of just running to a feature I could relocate off.. almost 15min lost.. biggest mistake I've made in a loooonmng time. Another big (5ish min) mistake on #16 (vague area and didn't keep in contact..). Rest of the course was pretty solid, so pretty bleak to have stuffed it up so much with those 2 controls..

Feel like I was really getting into the terrain in general, just not focused enough all the time and sometimes getting carried away with the running..

Oringen day 4- middle.

Scrappy again.. 2min mistake at #7 (some unmapped boulders messing me up..), then like 4/5 30-45sec mistakes, so not great. Quite fun to actually have a few more controls/km today though.

Oringen day 3

Not in the right frame of mind.. Not helped by the rush to get to the start. Not focusing enough on keeping in contact and then being really indecisive with route choices.

1min lost at both #1 and #2 with my fine nav just not being good enough, then stuffed up #3 properly. Was pretty perfect into it, but missed it by maybe 30m to the south and then kept relocating off the wrong big boulder.. (4min).. scrappy to #5 again, in the circle but messing around finding the control (45secs). Loooonngg leg to #6 with no real path option and was just super indecisive with what route to take and kept changing my mind along the way. Then came into the control higher up than I thought and took time realising (1:30 nav mistake, but a lot more on the execution of the route..).
#7 was once again crappy- felt like there was a lot more detail on the ground than on the map and messed around trying to find the right mapped knoll (2min). Decided to just take the path option to #8 so I wouldn't stuff it up. Hit it we'll, but feel like I should've cut a few more corners. #9- okay, just very slow. #10 fine. #11 another long leg. Again not very decisive and don't think I took a great route, but at least managed to hit the control decently. #12- okay, just should've come off the path earlier.#13-#16 okay, just not particularly fast.

So first half of the course was pretty shocking, but at least managed to recover a bit.

Oringen day 2

Fecked the long leg.. (#3) missed a turn on the one path and ended up running off the map and taking my time getting back on (and a while to work out where I came back on).(5ish min)

Then fecked #6 as well, didn't have said proper attackpoint into the control and was just hoping toto hit it. Missed it by maybe 30m and then spent like 4min trying to find it..

Rest of the course was fairly decent though, so can at least take the positives from that.
