Race Evaluation

Windblown Ski-O: Red

1. Old Farm Trail suddenly was *not* Old Farm Trail?
2. Hit #16 first, then realized North was at the *bottom* of the map. Yikes
3. Straight across (I was on snowshoes)
4. Straight
5. Straight across the pond. Ames said it had been frozen since November, otherwise I wouldn't have considered it a viable route choice.
6. South, missed the new path, turned near the hut, across the Open Slope, by 16, went R at 16, kept L at the Y, and found "130" at the reentrant instead of "133". Barb Bryant, whom I'd passed on the way, noticed that #13 was also control # "133", so I punched.
7. Took the path the whole way, since I had become unsure of exactly where I was on the path.
8. Took the 1st turn on ZigZag.
9. Went up Open Slope and in.
10. Up Open Slope, but at 17 got disoriented and followed noncompetitors on the long ZigZag loop to the right. Upon rejoining the Open Slope, I slogged up.
11. Briefly went off the foot trail, then rejoined it. Very fast sliding, even in spite of snowshoes' teeth.
12. Whee!
13. Via 14, 13, control #5, and the Old Logging Road.
14. Straight
15. Up the unmapped snowshoe trail, saw #15 before I saw the trail it was on.
16. Leaving #15, got a bit disoriented near the buildings. The "Workshop" wasn't on the map. Went briefly East from signpost 5 before returning to signpost 5 and going on the trails W of the Pond.
17. Due E to the Wapack Trail.
18. On trails, pausing a bit near the parking area.
