Day 2 - Pineridge Red Long Course 9.0 km 280 m climb

Lost a few minutes to Hannah yesterday but today got her by a greater amount, and won overall. Victory made me happy considering I don't win that often.

Pineridge Map - Red Middle Course 4.0 km 175 m climb

I was nervous for this middle course because of my past big errors in this discipline. However, I felt things were different now. The confidence that I so desperately lacked in past years has finally reached a good level, and there are no words to describe how f'ing amazing it feels to not doubt yourself anymore.

This was a new map and new type of terrain that required some getting used to. The ground was very rocky and uneven, slowing down running pace and distracting from map reading. Right away I recalled Sweden and how tough it was to run there, I also recalled Glen Affric (or at least the portion I ran on). I appreciated the opportunity to race here, to practice running on more challenging terrain that I'm used to. Thanks EMPO!

So regarding the race itself:
will update a little later..

Note

I plan to do a more thorough analysis of my US Champs races but for now I will show-off my greatest achievement so far: best split on a tricky leg among red and blue runners on Day 1 course. Hellz ye! Totally nailed that control by 1. picking a good route 2. attacking aggressively from known location, 3. properly understanding vegetation boundary, and 4. not hesitating in the control circle. Now need to rinse and repeat.

Running 45:40 [2] 6.88 km (6:38 / km) +192m 5:49 / km
shoes: Patagonia trail

South Mtn trail run. Wet and humid out but I didn't care. Altitude definitely impacts me in a positive way, felt great.
