Didn't run the BG, walked around the beautiful woods and took pictures. Foot is gradually getting better.

(injured)

Another day of absolutely no training. Not going out into the woods was difficult on such a gorgeous day as today, but I kept busy with helping with the event registration. Having good company throughout the day and especially into the evening made me happy. I had time these past couple of days to reflect on this injury and how it reminded me of the value of standing still and enjoying life as is. It's not all about work and training, and it doesn't have to be. :)

My foot is feeling better. I did a salt wrap overnight, and there is still some pain but much less. Don't know about tomorrow still.

Update on the foot:

Pain when putting weight on is still severe and sharp. I can rotate the ankle without problems. Saw a doc, got x-rays, no noticeable stress fracture. If there are tiny cracks, they would not be visible. Ice and drugs for next few days. I really hope it's not serious and will resolve on its own. For now though, ice cream is my best friend.

Ok, so this started well. It was a sunny morning, I had energy and optimism when I set out on this planned tempo run at West Essex trail. Calves feeling better after increased electrolyte intake, quads a bit sore, shins still sore. Gradual uphills were not easy and I was not moving fast towards the end, felt constricted, sort of like when I had anemia and couldn't move. I take iron supplements so I don't know why that would be. But this wasn't the biggest issue, last 3 minutes of the tempo run I developed a sharp pain in my right foot, on the inside, not in the plantar region. I had to cut the tempo short to 33 minutes and couldn't really jog normally after that, and now I can't really walk normally. :/ The foot is not swollen or bruised, just in pain when moving the ankle in all directions and when placing weight. Needless to say, I'm not having a great training week.
To ease my distress I made myself the most amazing grilled cheese sandwich afterwards.

Track workout at the Red Hook stadium. There were many people there, including a group of young girls, maybe 10 yrs old, with perfect form and long legs, running fast, which made me feel painfully aware of the stubs that I have for legs. I ran in third lane and tried my best to keep a positive attitude. Did 5 x ~800 m with 200 m rest. These were difficult mentally and physically. Just one of those days.. it can't all be peaches and cream.
