Day 2!! A warmer night at the yurts yielded a more pleasant night sleep but official starts were earlier today, which meant we had to wake up the boxes with the rising sun. It was still so so nice to be out.
Of course, I was a bit nervous today. There were a few control locations that I did not have time to field check. In the area I was running this morning there was a rootstock right next to a green + brown control that was supposed to be south of the control not north. Oh well, I thought, there's nothing to be done at this point. I checked another control on a terrace and confirmed my fears that the terrace was not as evident as it is on the map and there was just a large spur with minor terrace in reality. Mistakes were bound to happen and I'm glad they did because that is how you learn. I welcome more constructive criticism. Most people enjoyed the woods and the courses today, and I'm happy with that. My task of creating fun courses was accomplished successfully. Weather was great. It was also great working with the HVO and WCOC crew. Super thankful for their efforts. Also, Geof really made my job much easier than it could have been, which I believe what a good meet director does.
I would gladly set more courses in this terrain in the future.
