Note

damn, ken - this thing is awesome!

it seems the thing in question - a bitchin' zoomable world map of all your activities - can only be viewed by the poor sap that did those activities. to check out your own, look at the bottom of the right sidebar of your log and click 'location search' under the log search box. but that link works for me!

Orienteering 13:06 [4] 2.73 km (4:48 / km) +27ft 4:44 / km

last thursday's CSU training, phase 1. brendan made a cool no-roads-just-houses corridor-o from his house to tufts

Orienteering 11:49 [4] 2.29 km (5:09 / km) +214ft 4:31 / km

CSU thursday training phase 2: tufts parko qual. initially disappointed to realize these were the same sprints that i ran in june for Ali's tour de-parko, but quickly appreciated that it was an entirely different kind of training to do it by my lonesome. less so for this one, as i was on point and didn't follow much the first time around

11:48 this time
12:05 (probably) last time

just figured out how ridiculously easy ken made it to automagically make an event from watch splits. new ben versus classic ben: fight!
10 AM

Orienteering 10:48 [4] 2.02 km (5:22 / km) +88ft 5:02 / km

CSU thursday training phase 3: tufts parko final. this one was noticeably different the second time around - no riding ali/ian/giacomo's coattails. avoided a few moronic mistakes this time around.

10:27 this time
12:18 last time

Orienteering 11:35 [4] 2.39 km (4:50 / km) +41ft 4:43 / km

and more just-houses corridor-o back to the car/brendan's. a lot of fun, actually. rekindles my interest in making an automagic line-o generator. something that i can enter start/finish (like work/home, or home/home) and a distance and it spits out a corridor-o sort of thing,

Note

Apparently Pawtuckaway rejected Untamed New England's permit for the 2013 24hr race. Huge disappointment, I was really looking forward to it. I wonder what reasons the park has, if any. Here's to hoping whatever awesome backup plans they cook up are the same kind of accessible.

Running 44:32 [3] 8.32 km (5:21 / km) +278ft 5:06 / km

doubled down on the pondage this morning. remembered sunglasses which my eyeballs appreciated. beautiful out. great view of the sun coming up behind the Hancock and the Pru in the distant land of Boston, at least from the far west edge of the pond. It's ludicrous to think how many laps I've run around the pond, and I've only noticed that view recently. Second lap was surprisngly windy - no Doctor, but maybe the Fresh Pond Nurse?

Running 36:10 [4] 6.96 km (5:12 / km) +127ft 5:03 / km

intervals is such an easy word to tack on to the end of stuff. fresh pondtervals? 3x800. wanted to feel some fast after all that trudging this weekend. the effort involved for that third interval - at 3:56/k - makes a 20min 5k seem pretty far off.

as boring as clothing choice is, i'm learning that long poly/short poly/shorts/buff/nylon liner gloves will probably do me well down another 5-10 degrees - for moderate-high effort stuff at least. but jeezy petes, do i need something for my eyeballs. i must've looked pretty emotional for the first part of the run.

Climbing (Gym) 1:00:00 [3]

good climbing over a too-short session. 2/3rds of the bouldering area was closed for an upcoming comp, and the toproping area was as crowded as it can get. bleh. looking forward to the two (three?) new gyms about to open. cleaned a couple v2's that used to be sloppy, polished off a few new 3s, didn't find any new 4's. sequenced a tricky 3 but didn't connect it. solid slacklining, too.

Running 26:43 [3] 4.81 km (5:33 / km) +122ft 5:21 / km

an easy three to grind out whatever might've gotten stuck in the machinery

one as-yet unmentioned casualty of the raid: nipples.
