Orienteering 1:13:54 intensity: (6 @1) + (2:30 @2) + (8:18 @3) + (47:29 @4) + (15:31 @5) 4.75 mi (15:34 / mi) +549ft 14:01 / mi
ahr:181 max:195 spiked:12/18c

first orienteering in a few months. the heart rate monitor was a bit loose - more like a heart rate belt. no way i hit 220bpm - just an anomaly from taking the belt off and fixing it.

the splits are up! i did waaaay better than i thought. 5th, with two #1 splits. a few massive screwups, though, and the 10:30 lost is entirely fair. would've been close to competitive without that. i'd say 6-7ish of those minutes were stupidity, and balance was sucking wind or tying shoes.

real fun duel with a mr white for the last eight or so controls. he had me licked on in shapeness, but i think i beat him on navigation for most of them. that said, i could have the backwards and never know. but it was a freakin' hoot. very motivational.

quickroute's here

in review:
1. cut in too soon
2. okay, hesitant near the control
3. okay, hesitant near the control
4. should've taken the trail to the south for the first half. slow and hesitant uphill due to lack of a plan
5. pure crap
6. trailed off of my bearing
7. good, but should've attacked earlier
8. should've left 7 more southerlyer, should've attacked ealier
9. okay nav but slow
10. cut in too early, didn't run the plan.
11. should've cut in later given the terrain (thick, rocks under fern cover)
12. solid. good spot on the gap in the green. little hesitant near the control
13. solid plan. lost it near the control, should've shot straight off the end of the trail
14. nailed it
15. blech. should've bailed earlier, and better when i did. bad bearing and didn't locate along my catching feature
16. solid. could've been a little more precise at the control
17. solid.
18. tough, but well executed.

Climbing (Gym) 2:00:00 [3]

first climbing in damn near a month. tweaked a pinky pulley tendon on the first climb. bouldered like shit. lost my v3 edge, struggled on 2's, and biffed this one cranky crimpy 1. sad face. slacklined well, and hopped in with pavel and kelly for some top roping. crushed an 8, 9, 10a, one-hung (and a crap hang at that) a 10c, and then one-hung another 10a. all dainty extended-pinky style, like a proper gentleman. but the crap bouldering makes me sad.
