Note

This weekend Kilian Jornet broke his leg (fibula) and dislocated his ankle in a fall while leading a Skimo team race. When your job description is "best trail runner in the world", that's not how you want your spring to begin.

Note

We're registered for the Mohican 100K Mountain Bike Race on June 2. It's a fun, hilly course with lots of single track. Anyone else in?

Beautiful day! I ran the Oak Ridges Trail to the old stile in Glen Haffy, around the lollipop of the Bruce Trail and Innis Lake road allowance, then back home on the ORT. The trail was a mix of snow, ice, mud and frozen ground. I was glad to have spikes but the Snowcross were too warm, as expected. I need to switch to spring/fall spiked shoes but I haven't used them for awhile and wasn't sure about a 2-hr run in them.

'Bent and I went to Highlands Nordic in our St. Patrick's Day colours. What a gorgeous bluebird day! Most of the trail network is open and conditions were great when we started - only a few places where the track was thin.

As the sun continued to shine, the snow got softer and slower, and so did I. Dirt started getting churned up in a number of places; they'll need more snow soon. So glad we went today! This may be it for the season but it's one more ski than we thought we would get.

Nice to run into Mrs. Tiny and Heidi on our way out.

After an active morning at Plunge, Mrs. Tiny, Teeny and I hiked up the mountain on the beautiful, snowy Lover's Leap trail at Craigleith. We were passed by a man using poles, wearing full crampons and a heavy pack. Turns out he's training for a charity climb above Everest Base Camp. Cool! We picked the right trail for hill training, I guess.

Some of us were in a very celebratory mood when we reached the top.

The view back to Georgian Bay was stunning. I forgot sunscreen today - poor life choices.

We ran/hiked down the Switchback trail. This burned so many calories that we had to go back to the Village for treats.

Elapsed time 2 hrs but we enjoyed the views.

Mrs. Tiny and Teeny Tiny came up to Collingwood for a March Break girls' getaway.

We started out with a training run for Teeny's upcoming 5K race.

BazingaDog joined us and behaved very well on his skijoring harness. I think we may be able to run together more safely now that he's 7 years old.

Strength & Mobility 10:00 [2]

Teeny wanted to visit the fitness centre across the road. Between chatting with neighbours and friends, I got in a few sets. What was more impressive was watching Teeny do pull-ups like it was no big deal. She has serious muscles!
