As a female engineer, the École Polytechnique mass shooting hit painfully close to home. I used to get chills from vivid mental images of a misogynist gunman barging through our classroom door, even though I was no longer in school. The country and their families lost 14 talented young women on December 6, 1989, and the survivors have to live with that horror for the rest of their lives.
Sadly, on the 28th anniversary of the Montreal Massacre, misogynist acts are in the news multiple times a day - and the newsworthy items are just the tip of the iceberg. In spite of that, there has been major progress so let's keep moving our culture in the right direction.
