Biking 25:00 [3] 6.7 mi (3:44 / mi)

During a rain break, I took the bike on a figure-8, of witham hill and bald hill bike paths. I was suprised how quick it went. So much faster than running.

Walking 30:00 [1] 2.0 mi (15:00 / mi)

I think it's really important that my bones and joints have the endurance to handle orienteering this summer. And since I can't run, walking seems like the most sensible way to toughen up (bikeing and swimming help with cardio, but probably not this)

Second, if I walk in the right pair of shoes, it doesn't seem to hurt my foot at all. In fact, the foot tends to feel a little better (looser) afterward.

And since I consider this legitate physcical training(in my injured state), I might as well fill out my log.

Biking 1:11:00 [2] 16.2 mi (4:23 / mi)

I bought a new (used) road bike yesterday in Bend. It's very nice, a Burley made in Eugene and it was a great deal. A big improvement over by last few bikes.
I went riding with my dad today to test it out, and it was really fun to move that fast. I'm really looking forward to more rides this month.

Biking 40:00 [1]

An easy cruiser bike ride with my dad.

I've officially entered the old catagory of my life. 25 years.

Note

Today I tried wearing my orienteering shoes for about 10 minutes... At first it hurt, but I worked out the kinks in a few steps. I really think this is tied to some overly-tight muscles.
However, I had some sharp twinges of pain again when I put my regular shoes back on. My return to running is obviously still a little way out.

Note

Purchased tickets to Helsinki last night! I'm going orienteering this summer!

In unrelated news, spring has finally arrived in Corvallis!!!!! Well, I thought so. Unfortunately the weather report says this is a mirage, and we're due for at least 9 more days of winter.

Running 5:00 [2]
shoes: Orange Sauconys

Jogged a short 1/4 mile loop behind my house. The idea was to test my foot's recovery. It seemed to go well, no real pain, but I won't do this again for a couple days. To be safe, immediately afterwards I took more Ibuproefin, did some streching, and did a 10 minute ice massage.

I'm planning to discontinue regular use of antinflamitories now, and only used them after long walks or short runs... I'll keep up streching and ice massage though.
