Orienteering race 2:05:00 [3] 16.5 km (7:35 / km) +800m 6:06 / km
shoes: Inov Oroc 280 2014

Hudson Highlander.
Temps just above freezing but the sun was out and turned the autumn Harriman into one of the best orienteering stages you could wish for.

Made a route choice mistake to 2 (ca 2' - straight instead of left) and added another minute to 3. Pretty clean as of then. Went into the trail running section after around 65' and had to let go Andis and 2 cadets pretty quickly. Managed again to kick into a rock full force on a short downhill which will cost me the large toe nail. Had to take it a bit more careful especially on the downhills as of then. Lost the (well streamed) track once for a 100 or 200m and got caught up by the next 2 groups.

Started the first 300m of the 3rd loop until I realized that I probably should have taken the new map at the refreshment. Turned around and restarted.
Started to suffer quite a bit combined with light cramping. Initially planned to finalize at least this 3rd loop but when I got stuck in the blueberries to 3 and due to the lower speed (aka walking) the toe started to hurt more and more, I decided to call it a day and walked back to the finish.

A bit disappointed that I didn't get further but overall still a very nice day out. Harriman is just great for orienteering and I hope I will be back for other Highlanders (ideally also in a better physical shape..:))
