Orienteering race 1:10:38 [3] **** 7.77 km (9:05 / km) +139m 8:20 / km
spiked:16/22c shoes: X-Talon 212

Red at England-Idlewild set by Addison B. 5.9 k

A nice course and pretty technical. Slow first half with the map detail and then faster open running in the later part. Overall, my pace was pretty un-driven; I was really feeling the visual pain of a 1:7500 version of 1:5000 map. The line thicknesses forced me to stop way too much, although there were some sections were I was able to mitigate this by forced generalization.

Qualitywise, I chose badly going to C1 and lost 4 min by trying to use the large rough open area and fought across the green bars to C22 There are simpler solutions to this terrain, I should use them! A handful of smaller route choice failures but it was overall an adequate run.

Orienteering race 11:48 [4] *** 1.87 km (6:19 / km) +22m 5:58 / km

Mini-sprint course 1.8 k
Fast and fun, a bit on the physical side

Orienteering race 33:09 intensity: (8:00 @3) + (21:09 @4) + (4:00 @5) ** 4.2 km (7:53 / km) +84m 7:10 / km
spiked:11/14c shoes: X-Talon 212

E-I Orange. 3.5 km

What was likely my final orienteering run of 2014 was the most fun of the day, just because I could run and not think too hard. Just try to keep moving at a good pace and stay warm, enjoying some time outdoors.
