Pulled 5 controls from EC West. Tough going -- 20" of snow in low places along the margin of the golf course and lots everywhere else. Control 21, hanging from the tree in the middle of the big earth bank, was a nerve-wracking clear as 8" of snow covered the face obscuring the slope and holds.

Sharon Woods, Red 6.9 km

A fun run by cedarcreek. This was technically easy, particularly with the tracks in the 4-8" of snow, although there were some spots where I chose new paths (and many places where you needed to choose who before you took a good line). I made several mistakes, beginning with sleeping on my way to C2, I missed the first ditch causing me to run solidly past the correct 2nd ditch. This ate 2 min but got me locked down for the rest of the day. Took a beating weaving my way to C7 through the honeysuckle and botched C8. This was the hardest control as the depression was well obscured by the green and the control was fairly but stealthily placed. Total lost time of about 3.5 min on actual errors. Chose not to run across the lake at either opportunity which cost me 60-90s on each instance. Felt like my speed was better. The next morning, my knees are feeling no worse for the wear so I am pretty stoked!

Pretty weak but better than nothing.

I had been noticing this problem after some other meets but I seem to have become sensitive to some of the imbedded briar/bramble spikes. My left knee had a small puncture showing only a trace of debris. It was dead center but inflamed my entire knee, reducing my range of motion to hobbling. After 2 1/2 days, ice, hydrocortisone, and ibupropen, it is still tender but mostly improved. I am hoping this was mostly an anomaly or I will soon be sporting some knee pads.
