Orienteering race 11:54:00 [3] *** 28.1 mi (25:25 / mi) +1400m 22:00 / mi

A solidly run rogaine in near perfect conditions with Dave Waller (7th of 46 teams). This was a good chance for us to take some of our lessons from the 24 h event in August and put them in action. I'm pleased to report that we are capable of learning! Food and water management were better, our pace during the day competitive (cleared the south 16 controls w/o headlamps), and our feet stayed unblistered for the day. We mostly chose distance over trickier navigation and as a result, I can say nothing but good about the route finding. The elevation change is an estimate as I am still counting contours; 600 m in the north with the balance a reasonable guestimate for the south). Our progress was pushed on by frequent meetings with the Geographers who finished 2nd. For the future, I must work harder to avoid carrying unconsumed food with me. Maybe shedding 1 pound is the difference between us and the perennially 1-place above All-Terrain Femaies. Good job suffering Stephanie and Sara!
