Running tempo 24:14 intensity: (12:14 @4) + (12:00 @5)

TOTNT - Riverdale Rally Route
The conditions were perfect... only improvement possible would have been the addition of daylight. I'll admit right off the top that I was shooting for a sub 24min run. I'd been thinking about it all day while sitting at work, knowing that the conditions were right and the snow would be here tomorrow.

When I got out there I went balls-to-wall and didn't even check my splits on the way through the loops for fear of subconsciously adjusting the pain threshold for the remainder of the run. I even recall running up the final 100m with the mental image of me trying to outrun a 24min pace bunny catching up, just to make sure I was emptying the tanks. I thought I had it for sure, only to be surprised to see I was a second slower than my PB when I finally caught my breath and checked the watch ...argh!!! What does it take!?!

...the one consolation is that after getting home and checking my previous runs, this was infact a new PB (albeit a minor change; 2.63seconds off). Not sure if I can add the hundredths of a second on the splits page.

Previous PB was run last November 29th.

Conditions: (Level 1) -5deg, frozen hardpack ground, no snow cover ...perfect.

West Loop: 10:58.55 (Cm. 10:58.55)
East Loop: 10:45.20 (Cm. 21:43.75)
UOTV: 02:30.80 (Cm. 24:14.55)

Stretching 8:00 [0]

...hip thing acting up again.

TOTNT - Ganja Loops Workout

~3:22 loop x6, going every 4:30; A tough set of loops and held on for a sixth final push; decent consistency tonight. Good thing I planned ahead and while Tiny did an extra bit of warmup, I took the opportunity to visit the bushes of Riverdale East (I'm running out of bushes to visit).

Loops: 3:23, 3:23, 3:20, 3:24, 3:25, 3:25

Stairs 8:00 intensity: (3:00 @1) + (5:00 @4)

ten sets, alternating singles and doubles.
...plus some spanst to close 'er out.

Orienteering race 55:00 intensity: (30:00 @3) + (25:00 @4)

THOMASS - North Tract
Was debating getting out of bed this morning (BSR 5:6) ...but either way, Mick was going to be ringing the doorbell any moment and I'd have to be up to answer the door, ...might as well get dressed to run.

A tough race physically (seemed faster than usual), where I've never perspired so much in a winter race. ...as we ran for the first control, Billy turned to me and mentioned "I'm more hung-over than I thought." ...kept me laughing through the race.

Nice job by Slice to school much of the men's elite field!

Snowshoeing race (Score-O) 20:00 [4]

XC Skiing (Classic) race (Score-O) 1:22:00 [4]

Running race 8:00 [4]

Running for the last control up a hill. ...half-way up I wondered why I hadn't skied up!

Note

Thanks Tiny and Nosnhoj for the invite and glad I could hold up my end of the team. ...wasn't sure what'd happen given 1) I hadn't been on skiis since last season and 2) I hadn't put any weight on my right-arm since last summer before the crash. Both went okay and I think it was simply my subconscious which had me worrying about the arm.

Too bad for the Tree Huggers as it would have been nice to have a tighter race. In our minds we treated the race as though they were simply on our heals, but simply around the bend where we couldn't see them; kept us pushing to the end. Still a nice job to the TH for holding on for 2nd!
