TOTNT - Inugural Riverdale Rally

Setup a new rally course in the Riverdale Park system. It stretches the parks to their max. with minimal doubling back. Tried to find a balance of hills and rolling, but difficult in the valley park where everything is either vertical or dead flat. The course is shorter than either the summer or winter GHO Chedoke rally courses, but can be adjusted if felt too fast once the snow has lifted. Also there is are a few stretches paralleling pavement and it is difficult to resist running on the pavement for the extra traction (especially in the snowy conditions). I will put it out there that I wouldn't be surprised to see someone go sub 23min on this course in the dry autumn conditions.

My new HRM data logger unfortunately only recorded HR and not splits, my best recollection at splits were as follows:

West Loop: 13:17
East Loop: 13:06
UOTV: 3:21

..."UOTV" = Up Out of The Valley

I'll post a more decipherable rally map when I get the chance, but in the meantime here's a gmaps version. Also it will probably be adjusted after input from SuperWes1000 and Hansel next week.

Running (commute) 20:00 [2]

Seems more people cleared their sidewalks last night; made for better traction than the regular ice dance I endure.

Running (commute +plus) 40:00 [2]

TTC'd downtown for some errands and jogged home through the downtown core.

Choose to do intervals on my way home, so commute formed part of w/u ...balance is c/d.

Running (commute) 25:00 [2]

Very cold and windy commute this morning. Plus a very uncomfortably heavy pack, laden with stuff for the new office setup.

Running (commute +plus) 35:00 [2]

A MUCH lighter pack on the way home tonight. I find it hard to believe that that alone is the reason for so little time difference between my run to work this morning and my way home; as I took a very circuitous route. home. Threw in some loops around both Riverdale East and West, plus a jaunt through Regents Park (no shots fired).

Note

I certainly paid big time for my fun last weekend. By the time I got home Sunday evening I was shivering and not in the mood to eat. Didn't think much of it until I realized around noon on Monday that I had a fever, which completely incapacitated me. It broke late at in the evening and I stupidly went into work on Tuesday, which because we are in the midst of moving has the heat shut of... yup relapsed and spent Wednesday with a second/same fever.

Yesterday and today have been great at the new digs on the Danforth and I am avoiding any of the heavy lifting around the office ;) Too bad as I was hoping to organize the inaugural T.O.T.N.T. for yesterday. Looks like next Tuesday will be the kick-off.
