Running warm up/down 25:00 [2]

Orienteering 1:00:00 [3]

O'SKOOL (AM): "Map Reading"; slog through the deep snow of Hilton Falls west, really focusing on reading every detail.

Running warm up/down 5:00 [2]

Thanks to Google Map Driving Directions arrived late for this morning's sprint and only had a brief warm-up (if you could even call it that).

Orienteering race 21:43 [5] ***** 2.5 km (8:41 / km)
spiked:15/15c

O'SKOOL (AM): "Sprint" A tough sprint, especially missing the briefing and not knowing there wouldn't be SI punches at all the controls (really confused at Control #1). Was pleased with my flow, however a bad route choice from 6 to 7 cost me ~40sec.

Orienteering race 1:15:00 [4]

O'SKOOL (AM Con't): "Score-O" A bad route choice (maybe just a well designed Score-O) and very tough conditions. Was pleased with my perserverence, and spiked all but one control. Had to leave 5 of 20 controls unattempted due to the time limit. Still took a 4min penalty, but happy enough.

Note

No run for the pooch today. Instead took for a long walk at the end of O'Skool today. Allowing the legs to recover with good eats and a good nights sleep for tomorrow's final day of O'Skool.

Orienteering 1:15:00 [3] ****
spiked:24/26c

O'SKOOL (AM): "Control picking" Really focused on flow and successfully continued to spike controls throughout. A couple of errors where I let the mind slip for a few seconds.

Orienteering 1:00:00 [3] ***
spiked:12/13c

O'SKOOL (PM): "Contours Only" Started with a complicated line-O, followed by control picking. Moved really well through the line-O section. The one error I made on control 5 was horrible and cost me atleast ~3min (unacceptable!). The legs were complete 'jello' from the morning, but still pushed the body hard.

Running 45:00 [2] 8.0 km (5:38 / km)

Took the dog for a gentle run, when I got back from Day 1 of O'Skool.

Running warm up/down 25:00 [2]

Running hills 15:00 [4]

Escarpment Rally, but interupted by my misbehaving four legged friend. So broke into two hard tempo sections; ~7.5min each. The body felt really heavy being the first intense workout since recovering from my cold.

Note

Back out training today... Yeehaw!! Slight sniffles still and a slightly sore right knee.

Running warm up/down 30:00 [2]

Orienteering 1:00:00 [2] ****

Drew circles on an old complex map and really focused on reading all details, and then looking for the other layer of detail I missed. Slowed almost to a walk to really focus on taking in everything possible.

Not yet. Determined to be back on in the woods tomorrow! I am certain this is the end of it today.

Note
(sick)

I really took it easy today and am determined to get over this asap. I hope to be out training again tomorrow. Today, I was feeling a little stronger but it was still an effort bringing firewood into the house and doing other chores. Hopefully a good nights sleep will get me over the last bit.
