Orienteering (rosaryville blue) 1:39:31 [3] ** 9.9 km (10:03 / km)
ahr:137 max:153 shoes: Falcons 2018

I was tired and little sore from my race yesterday. I could feel every incline. By the end I didn't have much left to keep running. I was out of practice map reading and made some simple mistakes. I was confused by the mapped vs unmapped trails. A lot of the old trails are still out there and with the leaf cover was the same as the mapped trails.

Orienteering (control pickup) 53:34 [2] 2.5 mi (21:26 / mi)
shoes: Falcons 2018

I was plenty tired but had volunteered to pickup controls. PIckup was easy but it was a bit of distance.

walk warm up/down (road with Darcy) 19:38 [1] 1.0 mi (19:38 / mi)
shoes: Addidas Ultraboost 20 2020

Today was the big 10K TURKEY Chase virtual race. At least it was the date I picked to run it. I had previously scouted out a loop by the school that was 1.5 miles. It was nice out, overcast and 60 degrees. Good racing weather.

Walked up the school with Darcy who was going to walk her virtual 5K race.

Run race (road) 47:43 [4] 6.3 mi (7:34 / mi)
shoes: Addidas Ultraboost 20 2020

I wore shorts that have a spot to hold your phone while running. I had never run with the phone before but needed to in order to use the phone app to register my race. Darcy started walking but I was having difficulty with my phone and I couldn't read it without my glasses. I couldn't start the race with the phone in its pocket and it would take awhile to put into the pocket. There were also messages on the phone and becuase I couldn't read them I couldn't tell what they meant. I had to restart the race several times. I finally just held the phone in my hand and hoped it was working as it was supposed to.
I did get a message/cheers about 100m into the race but then didn't get anything until the end. It was suppose to alert me every mile but it didn't. Fortunately I had my GPS watch so could tell my pace/splits.
There was one gradual incline on the loop and it really slowed me down. My pace dropped 30 seconds every time on that incline.
Overall I started out fast like I always do and intended to do then dropped into a pace that slowly got slower.
My phone never told me when the race was over so I kept going.
My official 10 K time was 46:23 7:29/mile pace. I was happy with that time. I probably would have been faster with a crowd but couldn't have gone much faster on my own.

Treadmill (2 incline) 4:30 [3] 0.5 mi (9:00 / mi)
shoes: Addidas Ultraboost 20 2020

The oil for the treadmill arrived. I applied it but it didn't fully solve the problem. I still have work to do on it. Ran 1/2 mile to see how it felt. Then walked another 1/2 mile. Don't want to get tired for my big Saturday race.

Run (road) 40:13 [3] 4.77 mi (8:26 / mi)
shoes: Addidas Ultraboost 20 2020

It was cold and windy out. First time wearing more than just t-shirt and shorts.
Still trying to finalize where I will do my virtual 10K. I was going to run a slightly different route at the school that I hoped was 1.5 mile loop. It turned out to be 1.47 which is close enough for my purposes.
Had to stop and use a porta john on my first loop. 2 of the three had blown over in the wind. I was lucky there was still one up.

Walked with Darcy in the new neighborhood. Cold and windy. I bundled up but my hands still got cold.
