Orienteering (combat Village) 1:57:34 [3] 6.3 mi (18:40 / mi)
shoes: O icebugs 2015

I was very disappointed. Such good terrain wasted. Where to begin. The first major problem was the map. It was old and it showed. There was supposedly updates but there were few areas where I could tell what was updated. I went through one large green section which was more open then the white woods.
The map printing was poor. The contour lines were printed way too light such that I couldn't see them without stopping and carefully looking.
Now lets talk the course, the course didn't address the map issues. There was a leg that went through a clear cut area but there was no mention of this on the map (or in notes). Control locations were vague. At least one control was mis-hung (hung way too high in the reentrant). The control locations were vague such that if you got there you still couldn't tell where the control was.
I never found control #1 despite have attacked from different directions. I did see a lot of people wandering around there. After 50 minutes I decided to just bail out and go to a different area. I was running out time so I went across the road to the other controls. stopped and talked with Don Fish who was also having troubles. I helped a couple with directions to get back. There were really lost and just trying to get home.
I did all the controls on that part of the map and was running out of time. Rather than go back through the area around #1, I decided my time was better spent getting exercise running the road around.

Orienteering (vetting) 4:15:38 [3] 5.48 mi (46:39 / mi)
shoes: O icebugs 2015

Vetting the control locations and doing map updates for Jug Bay event. I got to everywhere I needed to go. Because of my pulled groin I couldn't move very fast. I was able to hobble on the trail sections.
I ended up making a lot of map changes. There were still many more that I am sure could have been made.
