Orienteering 1:11:21 intensity: (8:00 @1) + (14:11 @2) + (23:13 @3) + (21:40 @4) + (4:17 @5) 4.26 mi (16:45 / mi) +123m 15:22 / mi

ROC Meet at Mendon Ponds - Green course.
Went around to get to C1 since I wasn't sure how wet it would be and the indistinct trails seem to have been taken off the map, so I gave up time to the field there, but C2 was well-executed. Over-ran C3 as I thought I would see it below me, so lost time there, but then stayed quite clean after that just limited in speed even more than usual due to heavy legs from yesterday.

Orienteering 39:14 intensity: (30:25 @1) + (5:37 @2) + (2:12 @3) + (1:00 @4) 1.49 mi (26:20 / mi) +29m 24:51 / mi
ahr:113 max:146

Flag pick-up: drove over to the Nature Center and picked up a couple of controls from the Red course from an area that I had never visited.

North Country Orienteering Clue Rogaine. Did the 4 hour option since that was what Walt and Patty were doing. Was more mentally prepared for the more rugged terrain this time and paid closer attention to the contours for navigating and managed to get 14 controls. About 1:40 in, I chickened out of staying with my original plan as I was worried about missing a tree stand in rather bland marsh terrain and blowing up the race.

Had a few slight misses, but only one error of significance when I couldn't find 49 after climbing up just around the edge of the cliff.

Coaching 54:05 intensity: (14:47 @0) + (39:18 @1) 1.73 mi (31:16 / mi) +2m 31:08 / mi
ahr:74 max:110 weight:176lbs

Back to the Dash in the Dark with a new course configuration that required less movement to see the kids 3x per lap. Girls Blue race and our first two girls ran well and the third just started running recently.

Coaching 40:38 intensity: (3:28 @0) + (36:55 @1) + (15 @2) 1.66 mi (24:28 / mi) +3m 24:20 / mi
ahr:88 max:120

Boys Blue race and our A team was competitive, even moving up to 4th by the end. Sadly, we only had 2 complete teams for this race.

Oh, and the highlight of this race was Ben doing a back-flip off the hay bale during his race! Of course, this behavior is highly discouraged.

Coaching 41:43 intensity: (1:17 @0) + (39:12 @1) + (1:14 @2) 1.86 mi (22:26 / mi) +2m 22:23 / mi
ahr:89 max:128

Girls Gold race - our first runner got trapped going thru the gate and the top runners put 10 seconds on her in the first 200m, but she didn't lose too much to most of them after that and moved up into the top 10 by the finish. Second runner is a rookie that almost broke 14 to move up, and we wound up in 13th after our final leg (new runner that did not do modified XC).

Coaching 37:26 intensity: (1:15 @0) + (34:38 @1) + (1:05 @2) + (28 @3) 1.58 mi (23:41 / mi) +2m 23:36 / mi
ahr:93 max:135

Boys Gold race - our A team was the top 3 runners from the Blue & Gold meet and the B team runners finished 6th, 7th and 9th, but the B team got off to a lead on the first leg, opened on the second leg and just held off a charging Edarius at the finish line. No particularly fast times but we'll see if they can push each other now after a summer with almost no running.

ahr:138 max:171 weight:177lbs

FCH3 from Humboldt set by DRAG. Walkers went straight to the stop while we ran all over the place. I had to cut the stop short to get back to the car and home for the Bills game which looked dicey late in the first half of the NFL opener.

Stopped at Whiting Rd after XC practice and mostly did 5 min jog / 30 sec walk cycles, including exploring a new area for a bit, SW of the pink trail. Ran into John Hohl near the end of the run.

Note
weight:174lbs (rest day)

Had a late mandatory invite to a 4pm meeting so I missed the Blue & Gold meet at Webster Park. I did get there for the stretching and was able to review the results and talk to some of the kids. Winner was over 20 minutes, so there is work to do, but the top girl ran 20:39 for 4th.
